The Art of the Brew — How to Make Coffee Taste Barista-Level at Home

There’s a moment every coffee lover knows: that first sip that’s perfectly balanced, aromatic, and rich. You don’t need a café to experience it. With the right beans, tools, and a little know-how, you can create café-level coffee in your kitchen.

At Savor Coffee, we believe great coffee starts with two things: knowledge and freshness.

1. Choose Freshly Roasted Beans

Freshness is everything. Coffee loses its vibrancy within weeks of roasting, which is why Savor Coffee roasts in small batches and ships quickly, so your beans arrive at their peak.

• Buy smaller quantities to keep beans fresh.
• Store in airtight containers away from light and heat.

2. Grind Right Before You Brew

Pre-ground coffee stales quickly. Grind fresh right before brewing to capture the bean’s full complexity.

• Coarse grind: French Press
• Medium grind: Drip
Fine grind: Espresso

3. Perfect Your Water

Coffee is 98% water, so use filtered water heated to around 200°F. Too hot brings bitterness; too cold, and you’ll miss the sweetness.

4. Know Your Ratios

Aim for one to two tablespoons of coffee per six ounces of water. Adjust to taste, but consistency brings clarity.

5. Try Different Coffee Brewing Methods

Each brewing method tells its own story:

• Pour-Over: Clean and crisp
• French Press: Full-bodied and rich
AeroPress: Quick and smooth
Cold Brew: Low-acid and naturally sweet

6. Taste and Adjust

Take notes on what you like—chocolate tones, nuttiness, or bright acidity—and tweak accordingly.
